Subject: [SAS] Some Reports from 27-28 May 2017 SAS Star Party at Fishtrap
1. The KP7 Aurora Borealis looked good from the SAS Star Party at Fishtrap,
WA. From dusk onwards, there was a glow that waxed and waned. First there was a
bright band across the Zenith, stretching from east to west. A photographer
from Spirit Lake, ID captured it:
http://spaceweathergallery.com/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=135767 ; some folks ;
call it "Steve" like this photographer from Bozeman, MT captured:
http://spaceweathergallery.com/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=135756 . Occasional ;
ripples were seen in it as it slowly faded. Then, a low northern glow
occasionally sent up pillars of light, bright patches, and some ripples. The
view was similar to this one from Steptoe, WA (but with more muted colors):
http://spaceweathergallery.com/indiv_upload.php?upload_id=135801 , and this one ;
from Spokane Valley, WA:

2. By my count, there were at least 16 astronomers with ~14 telescopes in
11 vehicles. The mosquitos subsided as the air cooled, and seeing was good and
steady despite the brightness of the aurora.
3. I believe some SAS members got good pictures of the aurora, and may post
them here.
