What kills me, is I was reading the history of viewing Mars, and 100 years ago, 
they were using those old 90 some millimeter sized refractors and describing so 
much more detail. The (what they thought were) ‘canals’ were seen, using a 7.5 
inch refractor, my scope is 8 inches and I’ve never seen anything even close to 
sharp enough to fool me into a canal (a distinct dark line). How’d they see all 
that in those days???

Yep I saw it like that on Monday night.  Seeing was about 3/5 so I was actually 
happy with the detail I saw.  Remember, Mars is receding quickly so details are 
getting harder to resolve than late May / early June.
