It was a great night.
The wind calmed down by 8:30 as it started to get dark. Good turnout for a
weeknight (I think this was my first non-star party visit to Fishtrap?).
There were five or six of at one point. Skies were clear, seeing was decent
and transparency held out until midnight or so when it got a bit murky.
My targets were the Leo Triplet, NGC 2903 and a half-dozen Herschel 400
galaxies in Virgo. This was the first night I'd been able to use my new
13.1" Swayze / DobStuff <http://dobstuff.com/>reflector under clear, dark
skies - it did not disappoint. NGC 2903 really popped - for the first time
I was able to see more than just hints of the spiral structure. Another
highlight was the Sombrero galaxy near Corvus - the central dark lane was
clearly visible.
Great start to the season for me - hopefully I'll be out again soon.

have really come thru this week, especially with last’s night’s clearing
after a rather dismal cloud situation late in the afternoon. Skygazing was
great, and the temps were not quite as chilly as earlier in the week,
though the slight wind that came up around 11 pm did make it feel colder.
Predictions for transparency from Clear Sky was spot on. Cheers! P.
