Hello There,
I was recently added to the email list. I'm planning on attending the Fish
Trap star party on the 22nd. I will be bringing my 150 mm Newtonian scope
with EQ mount. However, I'm some what new to astronomy, so I'm still
learning how to find object in the night sky. However, with a little
guidance, I'm sure we can find some objects to look at.
Side note: I was also hoping to register as a member with the SAS as well.
Would that be possible at the star party?

solar viewing binoculars for looking at sunspots and trying them out to see
if you might want to buy a pair to view the upcoming eclipse.

Directions to the SAS Fishtrap Dark Sky site can be found at http://www.
spokaneastronomical.org/events-2/star-parties/ . The SAS already had
their "Star Party" scheduled for the same date (Sat., July 22, 7:00-11:55
PM) there at Fishtrap, so consider going there. There will likely be far
more telescopes at Fishtrap than there would be at (light polluted)
Cheney/EWU.

Fishtrap should work. I don’t expect a ton of EWU people to come. We
usually go to an area behind the EWU football stadium, kind of by the water
tower. I’ll talk to out club members and see what they want to do.

The SAS viewing area is Fishtrap, a decently dark sky not terribly far
from Cheney. Where do you want to set up?
