Here's are two photos of Dan Bakken's magnificent 41-inch Dobsonian "Hercules"
telescope (which is the largest PORTABLE Dobsonian in the world). Dan and his
family was very gracious in letting others look through his telescope last
night at Fishtrap. One has to climb a ladder to look through the HUGE 3"
eyepiece!

Hercules is 41 inches???? Wow I didn’t know that, I’ve seen you guys mention it
before but had no idea it was huge like that. I always assumed it was like an
18-20 inch, which is still huge, but 41??????? Whoa!!!
Are there any photos of it?

I know that Michael Finch took some pictures of the nice aurora with his cell
phone. Dan Bakken was using his 41" Dobsonian ("Hercules") to look at Messier
Objects with his wife and daughters.

Pretty bright aurora to the north. Apparently it is visible in the city in
darker spots. Good show at Fishtrap.
