It's nice out right now.  I've got the binocs and just tracked down Vesta
with the help of Sky Safari.  It reached opposition 2 nights ago and is
pretty bright currently.  It's just south of Gemini at about magnitude 6.

​​Hey everyone! Not doing much observing lately...something about frigid
temps, snow, ice, etc. But don't despair...spring is coming.

One of my first targets this year will be a comet, namely Comet
45P-Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova. It is currently between Earth and the Sun and
should be visible again in early February - this time in the early morning.
I attempted to observe this with binoculars a couple of weeks ago as it
faded into evening twilight - didn't have much luck. This time I'll be
ready with my 80mm scope.  It will have faded to about Mag 8, but I'm
hoping to still see something!

Beyond that I'm really hoping to get a good look at Orion as temperatures
warm up a bit - it's been awhile.
