Hi Everybody, Please read on the forwarded message below. We will go on together with this project to localize this program into Vietnamese. It's quite an interesting application for both sighted and blind kids developped by a group of Chile people. ----- Original Message ----- From: Ricardo Rosas To: Victor Tsaran Cc: Larry Campbell ; Lpiccione@xxxxxxxxxxxx ; Barbara Maurer ; Gerald Kitzhoffer ; Jackie Brennan ; Maria Rossman ; Wenru Niu ; phuc@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ; sgicevi@xxxxxxxx ; Paulina Contreras ; Rodrigo Cadiz ; Katitza Andrea Marinkovic Chavez ; María Angélica Mena Silva ; trinidad moreno Sent: Tuesday, July 08, 2008 12:12 AM Subject: Re: JumpingLetters ready!!!! Hi all, regarding Victor´s question, we are preparing an updated english description of the software. We´ll have it ready this Friday, regards, Ricardo 2008/7/6 Victor Tsaran <vtsaran@xxxxxxxxx>: Hi Ricardo, Do you have a description for this software anywhere? Thanks, Victor Ricardo Rosas wrote: Dear all as promised, you can download JumpingLetters Beta version from our website: http://www.cedeti.cl/jumping-letters Please note that the executable file is inside the BIN Folder (Jumping-letters). The executable jumping-letters-debug.exe contains debugging symbols, useful for developers, in case an error is produced. You must also download Festival, and decompress it directly in C:/ You should then have the following directory structure: c:\festival-1.4.3\festival. Please use and test it and take note on every bug or error. This is not a ready version, is just a Beta for expert use and feedback to the developers. We willl release JumpingLetters 1.0 only when you consider it mature enough. As said, the name is still the old one, but version 1.0 will have the definite name. I would like thank Paulina (the real boss) , Rodrigo (software engineer), Angelica (Jumpys voice), Katitza (media voices) and Trinidad (graphic designer) who made this first english version in a record time possible. We are looking forward to your feedback, regards Ricardo 2008/7/2, ricardo.rosasdiaz@xxxxxxxxx <ricardo.rosasdiaz@xxxxxxxxx>: Excellent, Jump a letter passed away.... Long life to Jumping Letters!!!! Depending bon our graphic designer's time schedule, I am not sure if we can introduce this change in this first beta version, but Jumping Letters 1.0 will surely include it. We are looking forward to have your feedback next week, Regards, Ricardo Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device -----Original Message----- From: "Larry Campbell" <larry@xxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 02 Jul 2008 17:38:02 To: <rrosas@xxxxx> Cc: <Lpiccione@xxxxxxxxxxxx>; <vtsaran@xxxxxxxxx>; Barbara Maurer<Barbara@xxxxxxx>; Gerald Kitzhoffer<Gkitzhoffer@xxxxxxx>; Jackie Brennan<Jackie@xxxxxxx>; Maria Rossman<Mrossman@xxxxxxx>; Wenru Niu<Wenru@xxxxxxx>; <phuc@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>; <sgicevi@xxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: Almost ready English version of Cantaletras Program Ricardo: This is indeed good news. I am not sure the title "Jump a Letter" makes a lot of sense but other than the title this news is wonderful. Perhaps "Jumping Letters" is more in the spirit of what you are trying to capture. Only today (I am in Dallas) I was talking to Ann Taylor the Director of the International Braille and Technology Center at the National Federation of the Blind (an early graduate of the Overbrook International Program) and she is very interested in meeting you the next time you are in the US. Also Sr. Elaine (St. Lucy's School) is here at this meeting and only an hour ago I told her I expected to hear from you shortly. Little did I know I would have a mail from you today. I am sure Barbara and the teachers at Overbrook will be very happy with this news as they have a number of interesting plans for how the program can be used. One thing we might want to look at now that this version is available is how to capture and share some of the work and ways teachers will use it. I also know Phuc in Vietnam (our country coordinator who you met in Malaysia) will also get his team working on a Vietnamese version soon. So we will look forward to this finished English version and I think we should plan to include info on it in The Educator and perhaps do an article on the program in a future issue that will focus on technology that will be guest edited by Victor Tsaran, another of our graduates who is the director of accessiblity at the Yahoo Corp. He and his wife will be visiting me in Maine in August so I can talk to him about it then. I am copying our new director Jerry Kitzhoffer on this as I have been keeping him posted on this good development. More later. >>> "Ricardo Rosas" <rrosas@xxxxx> 07/02/08 1:33 PM >>> Dear all, just for tell you that we are almost ready with the english version of Cantaletras....the softwares name is Jump a Letter, and the main character is Jumpy. The good news are that we produced a ready-to-use english version, not a preliminary one. Of course, we need create more media for that version, but all the "hardware" english is still created. In other words, we can operate directly with the media administrator to create new words, tales and fables, but we can also just use the existing ones! Our software engineer is now compiling the new software, we expect to have the Beta version ready to download on Friday morning.
