Hi everyone
Hope you are all well, and looking forward to doing a short shift on Saturday
at Tesco.
We will also be using our card reader to accept contactless donations. I’m sure
we will still get cash but suspect more and more people would pay by card as
that became more common during the pandemic.
The card reader is easy to use but us visually impaired would struggle with it.
I can only read it at home with my video magnifier. The battery only lasts
about 3 hours however spare battery is fully charged and I believe Katie has a
power pack, which we could also use if it runs out of juice.
Katie will probably set it up for the first shift, and hopefully it’ll last
till she starts her shift! However if it runs out of juice and you need to
replace the battery, to restart it, just press the power Botton - top right of
keypad. When I do this at home, it asks if I want to connect to my wifi
network - so presume it will lat Tesco - just tap the on screen red X to
dismiss. If it then asks you to select a wifi network, again just decline by
tapping the red X. Then tap the contactless symbol - top left o screen and then
tap the green tick to confirm the amount, and it’s good to go.
People should be able to tap the left and right arrows on screen to adjust
amount.
Please could you all ensure that whoever replaces your shift knows where the
spare battery is.
I have pinned badges to our tabards which let people know that we take
contactless payments.
See you on Saturday
