I can help at the collection on Sunday 23rd February. Happy to do a couple

I met a lovely couple just before Christmas. The lady is blind, and after
I had helped them with their shopping, I told them about our group. They
are hoping to come to our January meet up. They have emailed me several
times, and seem quite keen. Their names are Gavin and Tina.
I'm hoping to do some groundwork next week on the possibility of a pub
quiz and the viability of the pamper night. I already have several people
who said they would be interested in coming and having a stall at such an
event. I'll report back at our meet up.

1)
*December collections *
- Tesco on the 14th December raised a magnificent £600.
- Wilton Garden Centre on the 21st raised an impressive £326.47 as we
only collected from 10am - 4pm.

2) *Our next collections*
Please let Just know if you can spare an hour or two at either of our next
collections:
- Saturday 25th January Five Rivers Leisure Centre 9am - 1pm (Sorry
about the short notice we've only just been offered it.)
- Sunday 23rd February Tesco Metro in town 10am - 4pm
- Gilbert, Tesco's Community Champion, has also said we can have an
Easter collection - will let you know the date as soon as we have one.
- Wilton Garden Centre have also said we can go back perhaps on one of
the May bank holiday weekends when they are extra busy.
3)
*New volunteers recruitment event *
- Saturday 14th March Salisbury Library 10am - 2pm
Gemma and Hazel at Southampton Office are helping us organise a
recruitment event in March as we're still a bit short on numbers. Please
let Just know if you can spare an hour or two to help. We'll be putting up
the poster attached up in key locations around town at the end of January.
The more the merrier. :-)
4) *Some brilliant fundraising by some of Katie's colleagues*
Some of Katie's colleagues in the Information Governance department at the
hospital have raised £900 in a couple of months. They are hoping to raise
enough money to name a pup in 2020. They may need some extra volunteers for
events and will let us know if they do.
5) *Ideas for 2020*
We're looking for ideas of events we could attend if there's a good
footfall and it doesn't cost anything to register so please let us have any
ideas.
Was anyone involved with the Pamper Evening that Debbie organised quite a
while ago now? Susan and Helen are going to find out how easy it was to
organise as it raised over a £1000. Does anyone know if the blind bowling
group still exists and do they still make jewellery to raise funds for it?
We could consider making it a unisex evening now that beard grooming is all
the rage! :-D
Other ideas are a quiz supper and Amesbury Carnival. Does anyone have a
contact at a venue that we could use for the quiz (or pamper evening) or
know someone involved with Amesbury Carnival?
Katie met someone at Tesco who said we might be able to do a collection at
Salisbury Football Club. We will follow this up as it sounds like a
promising one.
