Jack & All, Why not just use the throw away lite sticks (like you see @ concerts and other outdoor events). I bought a bunch last year @ wal-mart for $1.00/ea. You just snap them and they last about 10-12hrs approx. Just a thought. I agree with Rick, if they use anything else it will be a night mare with our night vision (also can someone tell the shuttle drivers parking lights only (last year one of them had their driving lites always on. Just my two cents worth. Let me know if you want me to locate & get a price quote on getting more of the light sticks... I will be asking her about it, thanks for the tip and aerial photos. They are progressing on the widening and the walk-bridge and I'll get more details about what it will be like as it goes along. Our planning ranger (Danielle Medrano) states yes, we are in agreement the T-Bird Star Party is May 10, 2008 from 6:45 to 9:30 (she picked the times). There will be shuttles and portapotties. They want to light some of the road from the entrance to the observing site so people can walk in if they so desire, and many opt for that rather than riding the shuttles. Sunset is 7:20pm. They are currently widening 59th Ave. through the park and the main entrance (The one by the amphitheatre) has bee closed off & on the past few months. When it is closed access to that end of the park is at 67th Ave & Patrick Lane (Across from Mountain ridge HS). They've opened up that little road that goes from the west end of the parking lot we use to that entrance. In think they are supposed to be done by the time the SP will be, but prudence would say check. I'll send you a jpeg from Google maps showing the layout. I looked at wrong calendar. No disaster or fiasco. We had an uninformed Ranger show up asking for paperwork (the one with the gun) and we weren't supplied facilities we were promised. They handled it internally but I will make it a topic this year to make sure that doesn't recur. Glendale Parks and Recreation have decided that due to new budget constraints, only Spring Star Parties will be held at T-Bird Park. We will have to come up with another place for the Fall Public Star Parties. Phoenix will be more than glad to take up the slack at one of their City Parks.
