Maybe, if it doesn't affect their budget. I don't know how they plan to
execute that, it's like a mile. I'm calling her again tomorrow.

Any way of getting them to use red lights?

Ex-Jefe II,

I spoke with the Ranger today but that didn't come up. I will be asking her
about it, thanks for the tip and aerial photos. They are progressing on the
widening and the walk-bridge and I'll get more details about what it will be

like as it goes along.

Our planning ranger (Danielle Medrano) states yes, we are in agreement the
T-Bird Star Party is May 10, 2008 from 6:45 to 9:30 (she picked the times).
There will be shuttles and portapotties. They want to light some of the road

from the entrance to the observing site so people can walk in if they so
desire, and many opt for that rather than riding the shuttles. Sunset is
7:20pm.

Ex-Jefe,

While you're working out the details with them, inquire as to what the
status of the 59th Avenue entrance will be. They are currently widening 59th
Ave. through the park and the main entrance (The one by the amphitheatre)
has bee closed off & on the past few months. When it is closed access to
that end of the park is at 67th Ave & Patrick Lane (Across from Mountain
ridge HS). They've opened up that little road that goes from the west end of
the parking lot we use to that entrance. In think they are supposed to be
done by the time the SP will be, but prudence would say check.

I'll send you a jpeg from Google maps showing the layout.

You are right, Saturday, May 10, same day as Astronomy Day this year. I
looked
at wrong calendar. No disaster or fiasco.

We had an uninformed Ranger show up asking for paperwork (the one with the
gun) and we weren't supplied facilities we were promised. They handled it
internally but I will make it a topic this year to make sure that doesn't
recur.

Jack,

Are you sure? May 20th is a Tuesday. I show on the calendar the date being
the 10th.

To what disaster is Steve referring?

MessageThe 2008 date will be MAY 20, Astronomy Day. Glendale Parks and
Recreation have decided that due to new budget constraints, only Spring Star

Parties will be held at T-Bird Park. We will have to come up with another
place for the Fall Public Star Parties. Phoenix will be more than glad to
take
up the slack at one of their City Parks.

Jack, or anyone else in the know;

What is the date for the Spring public viewing session? I have had a few
folks ask already. Are we still going to be at Thunderbird park after last
fiasco?

Thanks;
Steve Coe
