Hello again, Please distribute this announcement to friends, neighbors, and coworkers if you have not done so already. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and also a stepstool for the little ones. See Friday May 9 Arizona Republic for possible mention of Astronomy Day and our event. Thx! Here is our announcement: Hello All! Astronomy Day will be celebrated on May 10 this year. As part of this event, the Saguaro Astronomy Club of Phoenix and the Glendale Parks and Recreation Department will host the 2008 Spring Public Star Party on Saturday May 10, from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM at Thunderbird Park in Glendale. Sunset is at 7:19 PM. The Moon will be a waxing crescent with 35% illuminated. Saturn will be perfectly placed, and we will be viewing Saturn, Mercury, and Mars, along with the Moon and other celestial objects and deep sky wonders through a variety of telescopes, large and small, starting at dusk. Club members will be available to answer your questions on Astronomy and the Universe in general. The main entrance to the Park is on 59th Avenue between Deer Valley and Pinnacle Peak Rd. Go 1.5 mi. north of the 101 on 59th Avenue and turn left (West) at the entrance. Follow the signs in the park to the parking area. It is recommended to bring plenty of bottled water to stay hydrated. Restroom facilities will be available at the entrance to the Park as will a shuttle bus to transport participants to the observing site. The event is free. Please join us for a night under the stars!
