All,

I met today with the director of events at Challenger Space Center. It looks
like I've pretty much got everything in the initial presentation I made at
the last meeting. I still need to contact the caterer to go over things
with them and I hope to do so either this week or next.

As for dates. I was looking at first quarter or full moon in Sept or Oct.
First qtr moon in October is Oct. 20th, which just happens o be the date of
the Fall T-bird star party. The following weekend, Oct 27th (the day after
the meeting, may be schedule already, She will know by next week. The first
quarter in Sept is already booked as well, leaving Sept 29th. I've asked her
to hold the 27th Oct date if it is available and if not to hold Sept 29th.
So the event will be one of those dates. As indicated, I hope to know next
week.

The event area is the Rotunda and will hold 100 comfortably, I told her I'd
expect 60-80. They have a projector & screen and wireless Mike for any
speakers we have.

If there is interest we can also schedule a Mission before the event. The
missions are for 32 people and would cost about $18 additional for those who
participate. My wife got me a mission several years ago for my birthday and
we had a great time. It was a lot of fun.

The good part about this is we do have time to get things sorted out. I
think the biggest difficulty will be choosing the menu :-).

Any comments or input, please let me know. I'll post updates regularly as I
get them.

Steve,

Thanks for the comparisons. I have an appointment with the lady in charge of
private events at the challenger center this afternoon. I'll post later

Hello all;

I can't seem to get "sac board" to work, so I am just sending this message
to a lot of folks who I think will be interested.

My brother in law (he works for a caterer) just sent me an email with prices
for two meeting rooms in hotels along I-17. Both quotes are for 75 people,
less people cost more per head. This is with a buffet meal with chicken,
fish or small rib eye steaks.

One price was 1000 dollars up front and 75 dollars per plate.

The other was 1200 dollars up front and 62 dollars per plate.

It certainly sounds like the trip to the Challenger center is a much better
choice, great atmosphere, a place to set up scopes;-)

I am going to stop looking now, if someone can come up with another place
and meal package better than what was discussed at the club meeting we need
to hear about it soon.

Take care;

Steve Coe
