Windows XP Fast Boot/Fast Resume

One of the most intriguing features of Windows XP is the Fast Boot/Fast
Resume capability. The stated design goals are quite aggressive, calling for
a complete system boot in 30 seconds. Resuming from Standby should be done
in 5 seconds and resuming from Hibernate within 20 seconds. This technology
counts on certain features being available within the system BIOS, of
course, so your mileage may vary when using anything but the latest
hardware. This page contains a link to a Word document that describes the
feature set in greater detail, though it's truly meant for PC builders, as
they are the ones that have the greatest control over how systems are
configured when delivered to a customer.
