3 Dem Senators on the Senate Rule Committee joined with the Republicans to kill
a bill that would have put a constitutional amendment on the ballot to tap an
additional 1% of the permanent fund for early-childhood education. I'm
attaching an article about it.
The Dem Senators are:
Bill Tallman (ABQ) 505-702-6828 bill.tallman@xxxxxxxxxxx
Clemente Sanchez (Grants) 505-287-2515 clemente.sanchez@xxxxxxxxxxx
Mary Kay Papen (Cruces) 575-524-4462 marykay.papen@xxxxxxxxxxx
Please contact these Senators and let them know how you feel about this. They
should pass this bill and allow the people of New Mexico to decide the issue on
the ballot. Actually, the people of NM DID decide on this with the Blue Wave in
November. We made it very clear that we want to fully fund early-childhood
education by tapping into the permanent fund. The Governor needs our support
and needs us to push on them!

Thanks!
