(from CABQ)
Good morning all - the newly restructured CABQ Office of Equity and Inclusion
is inviting us to participate in envisioning and creating a more equitable and
inclusive city.
Please consider:- attending the press conference described below- have your
organization pledge on the Racial Equity Here page -
https://racialequityhere.org/ (as of this morning, NM has 24 organizations
pledged to this important civic work!)
SAVE THE DATE - TUESDAY, JUNE 19, 10:30 am
Albuquerque Civic Plaza
Mayor Tim Keller, in cooperation with the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, New Mexico
Voices for Children and PolicyLink, formally extends this invitation to your
you and your organization to join the city for a press conference announcing
the joint release of the 2018 Equity Profile of Albuquerque. You are invited
because you are already doing important racial equity work, and we are
gathering leaders, funders and community members to demonstrate that a broad
network is committed to advancing equity.
As a public declaration of this commitment, we invite you to sign on with us to
the Racial Equity Here national platform, provided by the Government Alliance
on Race and Equity (GARE), to which the City of Albuquerque belongs. The
platform provides equity tools and the opportunity to network with some 90
jurisdictions across the country. Signing on is easy. Please go to
https://racialequityhere.org/. ;
We have already secured commitments from several organizations and city
departments, and we’re hopeful you will sign on by June 15 prior to the press
conference and national launch of the platform. In addition to jointly
releasing the Equity Profile and announcing the city’s ongoing partnership with
GARE, the Mayor’s Office will share the priorities of the new Office of Equity
and Inclusion.
The Equity Profile is the first report of its kind for the city and highlights
the potential of a more equitable economy in Albuquerque. The 119-page report
underscores the opportunity Albuquerque has to emerge as a city that embraces
our diversity as an asset and understands that racial equity is the key to our
collective future. The profile synthesizes demographic, educational, workforce,
housing and economic data and examines what is needed for all Burqueños to be
able to participate fully in the local economy. The profile was prepared by
PolicyLink, a national research and action institute, and PERE, a University of
Southern California Program for Environmental and Regional Equity, in
partnership with a group of local advisors, and with support from the W.K.
Kellogg Foundation.
Please join us for this important announcement, and please consider signing on
to the Racial Equity Here website to show your public commitment to racial
equity and your alignment with the administration.
We hope that Racial Equity Here will become a tool for you to use in your
organizations, with funders, and with community, to demonstrate that our
organizations are part of a network.
