| Less than two months to go until the 🌊🌊comes to Congress. Let’s go ALL IN.
Your to-dos this week:
- #StopKavanaugh, and build the blue wave. Check out our resources to turn
up the pressure on the Senate to vote NO on Trump’s SCOTUS pick, and ramp up
your electoral work to win back Congress in the midterms.
- Take a look at this week’s Activist To-Dos. Share our list of actions with
your group members now to help plan for the week ahead.
- Sign up for the next Secure Elections Network biweekly call. Learn more
about how you can help ensure the integrity of our elections.
- Read this week’s policy rundown.

Indivisibles,
After two days of intense questioning from Democrats on the Judiciary
Committee, Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh only further proved to
us that our rights and democracy are in danger. Now that his confirmation
hearings are over, Republicans have the finish line in sight -- and they want
to sprint through it before we can mobilize against Kavanaugh.
Here are three things we learned from Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearing:
1️⃣He refused to commit to upholding Roe v. Wade.
2️⃣He refused to say whether he believes a president must comply with a
subpoena.
3️⃣He refused to reveal whether he has discussed the Mueller investigation with
people in Trump’s orbit.
On top of all of that, documents from Kavanaugh’s time in the Bush White House
published by the New York Times on Thursday revealed that Kavanaugh believes
that the Supreme Court can overturn Roe v. Wade. AND it appears he perjured
himself during his prior confirmation hearings for DC’s Circuit Court of
Appeals in 2004 and 2006.
This confirms, and puts into the public record, what we already knew: Brett
Kavanaugh is utterly unfit to sit on the Supreme Court, and every Senator
should vote no on his nomination.
We can still #StopKavanaugh, but it won’t be easy.
Here are the steps you can continue to take in this fight:
→ Read our updated resource so you have the latest information on how Kavanaugh
is unfit for SCOTUS.
→ Check out our SCOTUS tracker to find out whether your senator has publicly
opposed, supported, or is undecided on Kavanaugh’s nomination.
→ Then, call your Senators and demand that they vote no on Brett Kavanaugh’s
nomination to the Supreme Court.
There are some glimmers of hope -- polls show that Kavanaugh is one of the most
unpopular Supreme Court nominees ever, and constituents across the country have
mobilized to demand that they vote no on Kavanaugh. This fight will define the
direction of the court -- and our country -- for decades to come, and we have
to leave it all on the field.
Let’s finish strong
Ultimately, we know the only way we can guarantee a real chance to stop Trump’s
SCOTUS pick -- this one, and any in the future -- is to fight. like. hell. to
end Republican control of Congress this November. The proof is happening right
in front of us! Historic wins, like Ayanna Pressley’s primary victory in
Massachusetts and Andrew Gillum’s in Florida, are happening all over the
country and signaling to Republicans e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e that no seat is a safe
bet.
While you’re out and about this Weekend of Action -- canvassing your
neighborhoods, phone banking for your progressive candidates, and getting ready
for the midterms in just 59 days -- remember to #DoTheWork, take time to
celebrate, and then get ready to go even bigger in the weeks ahead. For more
ideas on how to make the most of these final weeks before E-Day, check out our
new Practical Guide for Winning Elections. Together, we WILL win.

This week’s #TrumpThreatLevel
- The facts show refugees don’t pose a security threat. The Trump
administration doesn’t care. New reports show that the Trump administration
ignored intelligence that reports concluded refugees don’t pose a national
security threat and instead chose to continue its racist and bigoted
fear-mongering.
- The US government is nearing completion of a $100 million drone base in
Niger. Instead of investing in health care, jobs, education or other human
needs, the Trump administration is expanding the global war even further, at
enormous cost.
- Shocker: Trump and his war cabinet are bad at diplomacy. Trump abruptly
announced that Secretary of State Pompeo’s latest trip to North Korea wouldn’t
happen, criticizing lack of progress in denuclearization. It’s just the latest
example of the administration undercutting negotiations and botching talks.
Visit trumpthreatlevel.indivisible.org for a running list of all the ways Trump
makes us less safe and our latest foreign policy resources to take action.
