Hello friends committed to turning CD2 Blue,
Andy Slavitt, Obama’s Medicare director, says “November is not a ‘midterm.’ It
will define the next generation.”
We need to be all hands on deck for this defining moment. You are needed. But
you may not feel ready. So this weekend there are two opportunities to prep and
practice talking to voters about Xochitl Torres Small before the November
election (about 40 days away).
- Never canvassed? On Saturday morning, two experienced canvassers will
walk you through the process, let you get your feet wet by being a “sherpa” - a
shadow canvasser, carrying and handing out literature - and then send you out
when you’re ready to strike out on your own. After you’ve knocked 5 or 6 doors
on your own, you’ll have earned your stripes. Wendy and Kay say,"No one is
great at this right off the blocks - but there's also no wrong way to do this
when you have good intentions. If you could ask your neighbor for a cup of
sugar, you can canvass. Honest!”
- On Sunday morning, Swing Left will hold a nationwide live-streamed
training. This interactive experience is a great chance to learn how to Get
Out the Vote (GOTV) from Swing Left senior staff. Afterwards, we’ll write
postcards for voters in Valencia County.
