    The are identical. I have one of each, as far as I can tell the Xenar in my Rolleicord is the sharper of the two. I also think the Rollei Xenar is about the same in performance as the Rollei Tessar. A lot depends on how well the camera is aligned. The difference in price was due mostly to the lesser amount of machinery in the Cord.
   Also there is a lot of other stuff between the taking lens and the results on digital media. That is, who knows what you are really looking at.
   You really need to set the lens up in an optical bench and look at the aerial image with a microscope. I am not kidding.
