Yes, I have used it. It is secure. Off course you have to make sure that the camera is properly fitted into the dove tail. As it is a small mount the best way is to look and make sure and not trust your feeling. A bigger mount would be more comfortable. The geared heads that John and I are using have bigger QR plates.

Does it work? If so, where can I find a matching baseplate to attach to the head? If I can get the QR thing sorted, I can tryout the tripod as it is and see if the existing head will be ok, or iI should think about getting a slightly bigger/stronger one.
