Dank u vel Ferdi!
I like it, beautiful colors and there are flowers, although not as many as in
the Fuji shot, as you pointed out. Still, to me it really captures the promise
and stirring of spring, just as the first signs start appearing.
I went for a walk yesterday and found a few apple and cherry trees just
starting to bloom. Maybe I should take the Rollei next time…
On a slightly different topic - what is the purpose and mission of this list?
Is it to describe and discuss technical details surrounding a particular brand
of gear, or to showcase working with said gear, or tips and suggestions for
solving problems or completing projects with said gear, or something different?
I’m guessing that there isn’t a very clear or binding mission statement, and
that it’s largely up to us to make it what it is.
If that’s the case, I personally would like to see a lot more discussion (and
examples) of shooting with Rolleis, tips and tricks to get the best results,
thoughts and suggestions surrounding composition (since it’s square), lighting,
demonstrations of things you can do easily with a Rollei that are non-trivial
with other gear, etc.
It used to be (or so it seems to me) that people would post links to pics
regularly, discuss lighting, how, when and where they used their Rollei, and
had more of a focus on the creative process and the Rollei as a tool. I really
enjoyed that, and am personally not really interested in which one weighs the
most, what Prochinow wrote a lifetime ago, if there were 325,645 or 325,892 of
a particular model built, etc. The former is about art and creating, the latter
about historical record, manufacturing, technical details that aren’t really
relevant to using them for what they were designed for. While I accept that the
list needs to accommodate both needs, I for one would like to see more of the
former, as it seem to all have but disappeared.
Cheers,
Thor

I’d love to see some of the art/work people here are creating. Slobodan?
Daniel? Sanders? Volker? Ferdi? Don? Marvin? Pablo? Emmanuel? Ken? Jerry?
Many more whom I’ve (unintentionally) left out?
Thor,
I am not in the habit of publishing links to my photographs, but now that you
asked, here is a recent one:

The farmhouse is near my home. Every Spring for about a week the front yard
shows spring flowers. During that time I came out there to make a number
exposures using several cameras. I was hoping for a sunny day, nice clouds
and flowers. This image was the last one I made this season. In town still
plenty of spring flowers but when I came out of town most flowers appeared
to be gone. The page has a link to a similar image a made earlier but that
one was made with a Fuji. Nice flowers, but a rather dull blue sky.
