The pistol grip could be useful sometimes, anyway you
can fit the Rolleifix and the cable release again if
you wish to do it.
Your FX  basically is almost a classic Rolleiflex
inside, coud be very similar regarding a T model,
except for the circuit board on the focusing knob side
and the cables around the viewing lens and the
infamous device they put around the shutter release
mechanism to switch on-off the lightmeter. 
Some years ago I used  my cousin's GX in Brazil and
shot using a cable release, writing from memory I
screwed the cable release on the button shutter
release thread and shot, I have no problems.-
