It should take around two hours of time to disassemble the viewing lens and
to clean this. It should take around $10 in chemicals to resilver the
mirror or, if you wish to have it done by another, roughly $30. This is
not rocket science, nor is the process for resilvering completely
forgotten. For that matter, you can have it aluminized and this will
probably outlast the anticipated lifespan of your grandchildren, though at
a marginal drop in reflectivity.
I am old-fashioned enough to wish a correction to a condition to be made in
an honest-to-Franke-and-Heidecke way.
