That's exactly it. Slides have a "Wow!" effect which just isn't there with prints, no matter how well made. When computer monitors reach, say, 8 to 10 megapixels per monitor, a resolution of 250 to 300 pixels per linear inch, and a size of 16 x 20 inches or bigger - and all that at an affordable price - we may all want to show off our photos on it, rather than having them printed!
