Jerry,

What does NFG mean? Is there a code book somewhere that we should have
access to?

Marvin.

Peter,

In ANY concentration, isopropanol is NFG for human
consumption.

Have you tried drinking the 99%? :-) I do not think you should. The 1% is

All the alcohols you buy in the drug store have other
ingredients that will
leave a residue. While 99% alcohol is very good, there is
still residue. The
manufacturers add these ingredients so people do not try and
use that
alcohol (i.e., rubbing, isopropyl, etc.) as a basis for a
cocktail.

That has not been my experience with 99% bought from
Long's Drugs locally. It cleans without any residue. Ethyl
rubbing alcohol is denatured with Acetone and sometimes
other materials and does leave a residue. The purpose of the
denaturing is to avoid the liquor tax.
I would be more concerned with so called Vodka. If it is
true Vodka it will have more than alcohol in it.
Another good degreaser is Edwal Anti-Stat Film Cleaner.
This appears to still be 1,1,1,trichloroethane.
