Hi Folks,
I need a new negative/slide scanner at home. Does anyone have
experience with the Epson Perfection V550 (6400 dpi resolution,
48-bit color depth)?
Important: It needs to allow scanning of MF (up to 6x9) slides/negs
directly on the glass (without holder).
Shot a "new" Super Ikonta 530/2 ("C") with 4.5/105mm CZJ Tessar
yesterday. Processed the Agfapan 100 13 minutes in Rodinal 1:50
this morning. Results look VERY promising.

I'm waiting until Windows 10 is installed. I already have lost one
scanner, a very nice one, to software upgrades. My Canon D1230U was
super and handled all formats, transparencies, negatives, and flat
stock. The lid has a light in it that can be covered and the
holders, including one I made, work for everything I have. The lid
is mounted on sliding posts so it will handle thick items, such as books, etc.
Canon only made software for operating systems up to XP, nothing
more. I had to find the XP software from a site in England but it
did work on my (saved) XP laptop and even worked on an XP emulation
(virtual XP drive) available on Windows 7 Ultimate. Windows 10 will
not have that ability and the old XP laptop is so slow it is a chore to use.
Windows 10 is apparently late on general release so I will just wait.
