Jan,
The current Zeiss Ikon RF camera keeps similarity with the basic Contax
II-IIa design regarding the camera front:
Contax II:

If you compare the ZI RF corner angles, you'll see they are closer to the
classic Contax than to the Leica M6 and 7 bodies.-
