Marvin, these lenses were a development from the SL35 range but with aperture information pins for the open aperture auto exposure. The number of pins on the various lens series is another story......! ;-) There were basically two ranges of optics, one was Zeiss but the 'common ones' were made by Rollei, some in Singapore and some in Germany; the other was a 'low cost amateur' range made by Mamyia called 'Rolleinar', not to be confused with the TLR close-up accessory lenses. Some of the early SL 35 lenses (no pins) were made by Zeiss and some of the later ones also, ie 85mm f1.4 & 35mm f1.4, 15mm w/a, 16mm fisheye, 18mm w/a. The SL66 lenses could be used with an adapter. The v. expensive Mirotars were also adapted to fit the 2000/3000 series. Optically, I have no adverse comments to make. I have recently scanned negatives and printed images to 24x18 inches and the results are great. I cannot comment on comparisons to Nikon or Canon etc but I'm happy. ;-) I can send you some image files if you like but they will have to be reduced in file size in order to email them. How did you rate them optically? Are they using Zeiss optics ? Does anyone have shots taken using these models? Thanks, Marvin. If so see: http://www.cameraquest.com/rol3003.htm and no doubt others too. I have a 3003 and use it for my 35mm photography. I like the flexability of the two viewfinders. NiCd batteries are a bore but can be replaced with NiMH cells which do not have the 'memory' issues. The interchangeable magazines are not much use to me now although I have used them in the past when it is quicker to change a magazine rather than rewind and load a new film. I have had shutter jamming problems on a couple of occasions but they were fixed in a service. Metering is reliable as is TTL flash with SCA 356 adapter. A Polaroid back, underwater housing and night vision attachment were some of the 'extreme' accessories available (at a cost though). I hope this helps Regards John -----Original Message----- From: rollei_list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rollei_list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of marvin0@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: 21 November 2007 07:31 To: rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [rollei_list] Re: Weird Little Rollei Rollei used to make this weird little camera a sort of square format 35mm camera, it looked like a Video cam; did anyone ever own one or use one?
