I'll defer to you Richard but that looks like no blimp I have ever seen and sure doesn't inspire a lot of confidence that it would do much... Eric Goldstein Look very carefully above Weegee's left shoulder. you can see part of a Mitchell NC. Note that the magazine is visible as a wedge, this is the opening where the top cover of the blimp is hinged up at the front. You can just make our a label saying "Sheperton Studio" just diagonally above and to the right (in the picture) of Weegee's cap, that is on the top of the blimp. The lower part of the blimp is mostly hidden behind Weegee but you can see just a bit of it. Its on a gear head, being English probably a Worral (sp?) you can just see the panning wheel with part of the operator's hand on it. The blimp is open probably so that the operator can mark the log on the magazine. Since this is English its not a Raby blimp but very similar blimps were made by any of several companies. I can't remember the name of the outfit that represented Mitchell in the UK. There is what looks like a microphone on a boom at the left top of the picture. I wish it were clearer because it looks like the copy of the Western Electric 630A "8-Ball" made by Standard Telephones & Cables who had the rights to WE stuff in England. They continued to make their own versions of the 633 and 639 mics until perhaps twenty years ago. The mics were actually manuactured by Coles who also made the STC mics used by the BBC. -- Richard Knoppow Los Angeles, CA, USA dickburk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx- Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org- Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org- Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
