I'm on vacation, but if it can wait until August I can give you a decent answer.

Until then, exactly what is it you want to accomplish? Simple MP3 copies, archival transfers, or something in between?

Cheers,

Hi Marc -

There are inexpensive solutions, such as the one Mark Rabiner
suggests. Peter K's solution will work as well. If you are going to
convert the files to mp3s and listen on an iPod, I'd go the cheapest
route possible, because it will not matter...

There are also more expensive solutions which will sound quite a bit
better. Good turntables, phono cartridges, phono preamps and sound
cards cost more money but yield better results. So much of this
depends upon how crazy you want to make yourself and how deep your
pockets are...

I would see if Thor weighs in on this because this is his wheel house
and he knows his stuff.

who knows?
I did transfer a few record cuts and tape cuts to my computer for my ITUNES and ipod I forgot how I did it it was 7 years ago. It was not with just just mentioned USB direct set up my turntable was just a few years before that.

I thought I"d get a turntable for 99 buck I got a 99 dollar Sony
But then I had to get a decent tone arm and that was another 99
But then I had to get a good needle and that was another 99.
Which proved I didn't have to pay 100 dollars for getting my vinyl into my
ipod.

I have a Mac.

You don't want to space out because then you have a filled up hard disk.
You have to pay attention and not leave the room.
I may have used Toast.
