Bob,

Seems obvious to me-- SLRs and RF cameras are usually dense compact units which are shot while braced against ones face, elbows tight to the body. Rolleis are relatively light cameras which are held away from the body. Rolleis are much more susceptible to movement or shake. I found this out in 1945. It is interesting to hear that others are making similar
observations to this day.

I just looked at some Rollei negatives taken in 1952, at the Museum of Modern Art in NY. Hand held shots of Classic Cars. Existing light, and they are sharp, when viewed with a 10x magnifier. Tripods were not permitted, so I used the eye level finder so I could brace the Rolleiflex to my face. (Wow, that Cisitalia was beautiful!)

In those days, my tripod never left the house.

Well got my very first roll from my new Rolleiflex printed. Boy there is a lot
more information packed onto that negative compared to 35mm! I've never shot
medium format before (well not since I was a kid in the 60's anyway on a
Brownie).

I'm noticing one frame is super razor sharp, the others just sharp (all
handheld). I have a feeling I must have had a little camera shake going on.
Could be just getting used to the new way of holding this camera still enough.
But I'm also thinking the Rolllei might require the tripod more than a 35mm SLR?

I'm wondering if any of you tend to shoot a greater proportion of photographs
with the Rollei on a tripod compared to your 35mm SLR shooting?

Thanks as always,
Bob
