Talking about the Planar 2.8/80, Claus Prochnow explained me once the Rollei tolerances for Planar and Xenotar lenses were identical, both Schneider and CZ used these tolerance limits widely to make the lenses("..lenses made on Monday specially..." wrote CP smiling) and then most TLR Planar and Xenotar 2.8 and 3.5 had identical performance from factory, however there were some Xenotar and Planar lenses with a performance higher than the Rollei tolerance limits as natural product of the manufacture process, CP believed these better lenses were the origin about Xenotar vs Planar quality discussion, but these better lenses were Planar and Xenotar too. Rollei tested each Planar and Xenotar lens with the CZ K6 lens tester machine, Tessar and Xenar lenses were tested by sample. These photographs were taken with the 2.8C Xenotar Schneider 2.8/80, Velvia 100 slide film, the first one has the sun in the image upper edge demanding camera and lens effort to show some detail in spite of the flare; the second one has something of directsunlight too but the lighting is different: http://www.flickr.com/photos/itarfoto/5459485075/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/itarfoto/5459485519/ Carlos --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
