Jerry, that is the beginning of the zone system. Your meter will render
everything medium grey(zone V), which is why you need to be able to
determine what you want to be medium grey in your scene.
The next move after this is to measure the contrast range of your scene, if
it's a narrow range expand the development and vice versa.
