Oh, you can set it all right but the speed but the sloping on the speed cam is such that you won't necessarily get what you want. That, and I wouldn't dare set between 1/250 and 1/500.

I'm afraid you are not right Mike, according the
Rolleiflex 2.8C instructions manual, page 24,
textual,:
"... Intermediate speeds may be set at any points
between 1 sec. and 1/10th sec and between 1/25th and
1/250th sec. Due to a supplementary spring, added
resistance will be felt when setting to 1/500th
sec.The shutter should be set to or changed from this
highest speed before cocking by of crank action..." .

Anyway I think it's a good advice from a practical
point of view to use the marked shutter speeds and the
f stops for fine tune the exposure, only if exact DOF
is important too much for the photographs the
intermediate shutter speeds could be useful.

NO you cannot set inbetween shutter speeds. The
speeds must only be set to the marked positions and the aperture is used to
fine tune the exposure.

Hi Carlos,

I'm not sure that answers my question. I think

your last posting

answered it, but now I'm confused.
What if I position the speed indicator between

1/50 and 1/100 am I

shooting at 1/75? Or does the mechanism choose

1/50 or 1/100 based on

proximity?

Thanks,

Elias

This is a comparison between the 2.8C and older

shutter speeds scale and newer model from the 3.5
B(MX-EVS) and 2.8D:

2.8C and older models 2.8D and newer models
1 sec 1 sec
1/2 1/2
1/5 1/4
1/10 1/8
---- 1/15
1/25 1/30
1/50 1/60
1/100 1/125
1/250 1/250
1/500 1/500
In practical use both scales are equivalent and

then

you can use a lightmeter assuming that 1/60 is

1/50,

1/125 is 1/100, etc. The 2.8C and older models

don't

have a shutter speed equivalent to 1/15.
The f stops scales are the same.-

I'm not expert but I'm a 2.8C user. If the

camera is

adjusted according factory spec the settings are
accurate and relative between the marked

positions,

the camera is very, very accurate doing it and

you

can
work using f.e. 1/2 or 1/4 f stop and you can

see

the
difference in the photograph.
The only problem I had with the 2.8C about the

topic

was a worn gear in the shutter speeds wheel, the
wheel
slipped to pass from 1/25 to 1/50 to 1/100, but

this

problem was fixed during the last CLA changing

the

worn gear; anyway even with the wheel slipping

the

shutter speeds scale was relative to the real
shutter
speeds because the scale did not move while the
wheel
was slipping.

When setting shutter speed or aperture stop on

I right to assume that the settings are

Thanks,

There are many wiser heads to comment on this,
however my 2c is that its probably fine for the
aperture, but won't work for the shutter speed.
