From Prochnow's serial numbers the camera just about has to be an f/3.5 model. The f/4.5 Old Standard was discontinued in January 1934 and the f/3.8 version a year later.

Yes, I know. But wouldn't it be cool if it turned out to have a 3,8 Tessar? :-)



BTW, these are very nice cameras. Much lighter than the Automat and later models. Rolleis seem to have gotten heavier as the design was advanced. The OS is about the same weight as my Rolleicord IV. The old Tessar is perfectly sharp and not flarey. Since there is no coupling between shutter and wind mechanism you have to have a routine to avoid double exposures or missing frames.

I agree. I've heard many people say that they have problems with getting used to different types of cameras, and their features. I don't. I have no problems with a mirrored image in the finder, if the winding knob is on the left or right side, or on the bottom of the camera, or switching between Rolleiflexes/Rolleicords. It feels like I have grown up with all of them. Strange.
