Ken, Have you made a head-to-head comparison between the 4990 and Coolscan IV on 35mm? I did that by scanning a slide at West Photo in Minneapolis on their Coolscan V and then scanning the same slide on my Epson 4870. I scanned them both for a 16x24 print at 300 dpi and, for the life of me, I couldn't see any more detail or resollution in the Coolscan scan. I was all set to buy a Coolscan, but have stuck with the Epson since making that comparison. Bob

I have a Epson 4990 Photo. Hard to find, but it has all the dust removal features in a flatbed such as Digital ICE. Very hard to find in newer models.

Ditto for me. So far, I'm very pleased with the results I get with the 4990, for 120, at least. For 35mm, I'm still using my Nikon Coolscan IV.
