The website www.SL66.com had details on how to fit them. That site is no
longer available since earlier this year. The site was run by Jaap Roskam
who also runs Rolleiclub.com; that is still available.
I wrote an article in Club Rollei User in October 2015 - Issue 39, page
21. I made some rings for some of my older style lenses to convert them to
"E" lenses.
If anyone is interested, I can send them a PDF of that issue. I do not
know why is not available on the Rollei.org.uk website at the moment. The

The rings are very simple to fit; slide them on, adjust rotation until the
aperture scale reading gives the correct camera meter reading and tighten
the lock grub screws. Slightly more involved than that but not much!
The aperture ring was not changed from chrome in the process, it was not
necessary to dissemble the lens to fit the "E" ring.

Hello All,
From 1982 lenses for the SL 66 were fit for open aperture metering. The
colour of the aperture ring changed from chrome into black. It was also
possible to have earlier lenses adapted for metering with the SL 66E and SE.
My question is this. Did the upgrade also involve a new black aperture
ring or was the original chrome ring kept?
I am in contact with the owner of a 30 mm Fish-Eye lens that has a chrome
aperture ring and is fit for metering with his SL 66SE. He wonders if the
Fish-Eye is an exception to the black aperture ring. The lens number is
5769xxx. I have checked that number against a list with Zeiss lens numbers
http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Carl_Zeiss_serial_numbers
and that list suggests it was made in or around 1970. The SL66 Fish-Eye
lens was produced from 1973 according to Prochnow. That does not really add
up but I would say 5769xxx is an early lens. It feel it more likely an
early, adapted lens rather than a post 1982 lens. Therefore I am interested
to learn if the upgrade to open aperture metering involves a change of
aperture ring.
