Jerry: I have no doubt the Planar design is one of the best photographic lens designs. Yes, Distagon lenses are retrofocus WA designs, the Distagon 4/80 standard lens for the SL66 is a rarity, the retrofocus design was necessary for this case due to the camera construction features and the way the additional Compur leaf shutter for this 80mm lens increases the real distance regarding the focal plane.
