     Well, the saleslady at Jo-Ann, which is a big chain
fabric shop, thought it was the leather but its obviously
the thread and other sources say thread. But they agree that
cotton thread or mixtures of cotton and polyester should not
be used. Evidently linen thread is better but still rots
after a long time. There may have been some additional
factor in the Rollei cases since other cases of the time do
not seem to have this problem and pre-war Rollei cases do
not either.
     For a long time I thought the "Depose" stamped into the
backs of some of the cases was the name of a manufacturer
but apparently it means only that the design is patented or
copyright.
