I'm afraid your description could be the evidence your 3.5A MX shutter release
button lost a piece like I suspected. I'm seeing a close-up about the MX front
panel and the shutter release button has the regular inner thread for cable
release clearly. This is a piece something similar regarding the socket for the
flash cord, however the diameter is smaller; I think your camera has the little
tube or cylinder(it's a part of the shutter release button!) where this piece
is screwed, the little tube has an external thread, and then your camera does
not have the bigger piece that secrewed in the little tube contains the thread
for the cable release, I also have the 3.5 A MX exploded view in the Rollei
Technical Report and can see the parts according I described them, anyway I
could be interpreting something wrong, but I don't believe it; the 3.5A MX did
not have registered variations for export.
If your camera has a little tube or cylinder like shutter release button
(similar regarding newer models buttons, except for the external thread) and it
does not have a round bigger piece with the inner thread for the cable release,
your camera lost this last part.
The problem looks like your camera has the part 04302.00.0 lacking the part
04313.00.0.-
