The Planar 1,8/50 was the main standard lens for the SL 35/2000 system
among the Planar 1,4/50, Schneider Xenon 1,8/50, Rolleinar (Mamiya) 2/50
and Rolleinar (Mamiya and others) 1,4/55. This Planar 1,8/50 was a
recalculated Zeiss Ultron 1,8/50 seven elements, six groups design, where
the concave first element was replaced by a convex element (diagram in my
blog http://rolleiflexsl35system.blogspot.com.ar/2011/06/rolleiflex-sl-
35-system.html). Carl Zeiss Oberkochen started to manufacture the Planar
1,8/50 for Rollei (made in Voigtländer Optics Braunschweig and Rollei
Optics Singapore afterwards) and when Carl Zeiss developed and applied its
multicoating process for the firsts Rollei SL 35 lenses, CZ did not mark
this feature in the lens ring, while Japanese lenses were marked "MC" for
this feature. This was the commercial reason Rollei marked "HFT" (High
Fidelity Transfer) the Zeiss lenses with the Zeiss multicoating process;
when CZ started to use the mark T* for the multicoated lenses, kept the
term "HFT" for most of lenses they made for Rollei, during the '70s to
maintain the name uniformity. CZ and Rollei joint-venture also developed a
massive multicoating process, the true "HFT" on the basis of the CZ T*
multicoating to apply to lenses made at the fomer Voigtländer Optics
Brausnchweig and Rollei Optics Singapore.
These two are from the same roll, taken with the Planar 1,8/50 HFT and the
'flex SL35:

Last week-end I used the Rolleiflex Sl 35, the first 35mm SLR made by
Rollei in 1970, it was designed by Rollei R&D from the scratch, they
needed to circumvent several Japanese patents to build the camera.
Good camera to hold and to shoot, the body design was abandoned after the
SL 350 to adapt older and bulkier bodies from Voigtländer/Zeiss Ikon (SL
35 M and ME) due to Rollei bought Voigtländer.; The SL 35 E and SL 2000
arrived too late.
These two photographs were taken with the Planar 1,8/50 HFT and Kodak
Ultramax 400 35mm color negaive film:
