Richard, You have NOT written too much. I read and enjoy it all. Now, i understand that some Aspheric surfaces are cast and not ground at all! What is your opinion of the much rumored Leica lenses which have "non-glass" (read; plastic) internal elements. They are supposed to be fast and light weight.
