So with that experience I would say that if I was commited to using a
stainless tank with the lid on in the light, I would always put just 3 or less rolls of 120 in a 4 roll tank and I would not fill the can clear up with developer, I would leave a large air space that when I inverted the
can would go through the film reels so they empty of developer for a
second. I would not bother with twisting and turning, I would go just staight over and back over with a bump for air bells. I have not done it
that way but that is what I would try.

This is my process in a nutshell. I use a tank capable of holding four 120 reels, but only develop two rolls at a time. These two reels go on the bottom, with two empty 120 reels on top as spacers. 800 ml of solution fills the tank exactly halfway; five seconds out of every 30, I invert the entire tank and let the solution drain off of the film and into the "top" of the tank, then turn the tank back over so it is right-side-up, and wait another 25 seconds. I have processed hundreds of rolls of both 120 and 135 film using this method, and have never experienced uneven development, air bubbles, sprocket hole weirdness, or any of the other bugaboos that are occasionally discussed.

Credit where it is due: I learned this process from Daniel Ridings on that other list. If I had a darkroom, I would use Dennis' method of lifting the entire stack of reels out of the tank and re-immersing, since I could process twice as many films in the same interval of time.

Aaron
