I was out and about yesterday in beautiful weather in our museum’s park trying
to photograph lizards, flowers and tree blossoms on color transparency film in
my SL66, which has not gotten a workout in a while.
Quickly noticed again how impossibe it is to focus with the “fresnel screen
with both rangefinder wedge and microprism ring” as Mannheim calls it in his
"SL66 Way”, if you use any other lens but the 2.8/80mm Planar. Through the
5.6/250mm Sonnar the central focussing aids are useless and it becomes very
challenging to focus accurately on a central subject like a lizard.
So, I am in dire need of the “fresnel screen without any central fosussing aid”
(with gridlines). Ideally a Maxwell screen which I enjoy in the RF 3.5E, or a
plain Rollei Bright screen, but even the plain fresnel-only SL66 early version
is probably better than what I have.
Anybody have an extra one lying around they would like to sell?
