Robert Monaghan's site is worth bookmarking for many reasons.


I would certainly NOT do the "repair" shown in the second URL, one does not want radioactive dust or small particles flying around.
Please note that some radiation is beta rays which die out very quickly in air. The problem with Thorium is that its output of gamma rays increases with age and can be hazardous.
