Hi David:
          The good film scanners are becoming rare. If the purpose is to scan 
35mm, Epson v700 and v750 or Canon 8800 are good options, anyway your friend 
could try to get a _good_ 35mm film or multiformat film scanner at the auction 
site, that is a good option too, f.e. Nikon, Minolta, Microtek, Kodak 
professional.

PS:You can get most significant Leon Gieco cds at Amazon.com, look for "Leon 
Gieco" in the Amazon home page, I think this is the easiest way to you.
