I suspect Gene is getting at the true speed of the film with this mode
of metering. Since they knocked out the safety factor in switching to
ISO speeds, most shooters I know have circuitously arrived at shooting
their film at a stop over what the box says. Of course, Gene could
just have light palms ;-)
