The Kalart is a bit tricky to set up but very accurate once its done. The old Kalart literature says they are not meant to be accurate for close distances but the ones on my Speed Graphics seem good down to their limit of movement, around two feet. I've never actually seen the one sold for TLR cameras but if it used the same basic mechanism as the Speed Graphic one it would have been adjustable for a small range of focal lengths. There were at least four versions of the Kalart. The first ones have the adjustments on the outside. Some have a moving mirror but the later ones have a prism. Kalart also made flashguns and synchronizers and, pretty late in the game, also made an all-purpose press camera with some interesting features. Eventually, Graflex began to use a built-in rangefinder of its own design with interchangible cams for each lens to allow the use of several coupled lenses. I have no idea what happened to the Kalart company.Richard,About 10 years ago, I found a case of those Kalart "light beam" rangefinders for the Rolleiflex at a garage sale. I had a devil of a time trying to get rid of them one-by-one on this website. They were intended for the f3.5 75mm lens Rolleis, but I had a f2.8 80mm lensI was told that they worked very well.
