One further piece of currency here, the Sovereign.  a small gold coin worth a nominal 20 shillings.  There were a number of multiples and fractions of this minted, as detailed here:

2 farthings = 1 halfpenny
2 halfpennies = 1 penny

2 sixpenny pieces = 1 shilling (known as a Bob)
2 shillings = 1 florin
2 shillings + sixpence = 1/2 crown
5 shillings = 1 crown
10 shillings = 1 ten shilling note
20 shillings = 1 pound note (known as a quid)
21 shillings = 1 guinea

Just in case you guys were wondering! "An engineer is a man who can
do for a bob what any bloody fool can do for a quid"

Save this: there will be a test tomorrow at 10 AM EDT.
