As to the Rolleipol, after looking a long time I finally paid $110 for a
really nice one in BII. One of the online stores, maybe Collectible Camera,
had a BI for $90 or $95.

All the devices are seen by the OS as storage devices and attempt to
associate a letter with the device. Sometimes XP gets confused and a
conflict arises, such as in this case. So it is best to try one at a time.
You can then reassign a different drive letter to the Reader and the Camera
using Disk Management in XP. Its quite easy. Hook up the device, open Disk
Management and you will see the device. Then click on it and assign it a new
letter. For example, assign R: to the Reader, and something like S: to the
camera. It won't harm anything, it will simply use that letter the next time
that specific device is plugged into your specific computer.

BTW, anyone have an idea what a Rolleipol Bay 1 is worth? I have one with
the glass replaced and leather case. Best one I've ever seen replaced. So
wondering what it might be worth. (And I am not selling it cheap on the
list).

Marc,
You are lucky it doesn't work camera to computer. If it did, it could lead
to trouble.
As noted before, take the flash card out of the camera and transfer the data
to the computer via a card reader.

Don't try and figure out why it doesn't work, just accept that you computer
has good judgment in refusing the connection.
Good judgment is hard to come by.

I never, ever connect the camera to the computer.

Thanks to senior List Member Peter K, I have made progress. Peter suggested
hooking up the card reader, ensuring that the computer was recognizing that,
and then disconnecting the card reader and substituting the camera. Worked
flawlessly. Why it works escapes me, but it works, and that is enough for
me at the moment!

I did try a cold boot and tried to hook up the camera from scratch. No joy
-- the computer did not recognize it. But it recognized the camera AFTER
the card reader had been hooked up and the camera substituted for the
reader.

Never had that problem with my 2.8F 12/24, though!
